I feel that the people that we live amongst, can never know, sadly, what it was all about, we can barely articulate it, or make sense of it ourselves.. it's not their faults .. he is utterly the best kind of man, in public, to them, as you say, helpful, charming, etc etc, to everyone EXCEPT, you! My father was the same, as my husband, I was somehow, 'used' to being nothing.. 'conditioned' young .. on dark days I'm still figuring out, those night sleep won't come .. BUT ... it's over, it's just me now .. I grieve the children I wasn't allowed to have .. but at 61.. l picked up my handbag .. kissed my dog.. and fled. that's 3 years ago.. I lost / left everything .. but gained the finest of things.. the foundation to figure it out and live . After nearly 20years of no encouragement, no comforting, no protection, silence indoors financial squandering, ridicule, etc etc all fuelled by 3 bottles of wine each niaht for the last ten years.. and then his mass' pity party' after I left, vulnerable and terrified .. its hard to recall and write all this. BUT. I'm happy now, content with all l've managed to rebuild, he took his own life, nearly 2years after l'd gone.. he always threatened me to do that.. I lived with it over me constantly .. the aftermath from his family to me was vile .. and almost ruinous.. I'm here though .. quietly and determinedly just being me ..Life takes Bravery.. every day. In big and small ways .. you all have this courage. Deep within . We women are a link of Sisters in arms and a power for good. All thanks to the cyber expert who was able to investigate his phone and get me the information and evidence that I needed to gain my freedom from the abusive relationship.
