장 폴 고티에가 써 내려간 반항의 계보를 뒤이을 주자가 등장했습니다. 지금 가장 뜨거운 디자이너, 듀란 랜팅크가 장 폴 고티에의 새로운 크리에이티브 디렉터로 낙점된 것이죠. 2020년 장 폴 고티에가 은퇴한 이래로 게스트 디자이너 체제를 유지해 온 하우스가 장장 5년 만에 정식으로 디렉터를 맞이하며 새로운 챕터를 여는 셈입니다. 네덜란드 출신의 젊은 디자이너 듀란 랜팅크는 신체의 선을 한껏 강조한 실루엣과 업사이클링으로 주목받아 온 인물이죠. 실제로 올해에는 국제 울마크 프라이즈를, 작년에는 LVMH 프라이즈에서 칼 라거펠트 상을 수상하며 그 실력을 인정받았고요. 게다가 그의 디자인은 장 폴 고티에의 유산과 놀라울 정도로 닮아 있습니다. 해체주의적 실루엣부터 과감한 볼륨, 사회적인 메시지를 담은 위트까지, ‘패션계의 악동’이라는 타이틀을 거머쥐었던 장 폴 고티에는 이제 그 열쇠를 듀란 랜팅크에게 물려주려 합니다. 장 폴 고티에 역시 그를 두고 “나의 젊은 시절을 떠올리게 한다”고 말했죠. 듀란 랜팅크는 오는 9월 2026 S/S 레디투웨어 컬렉션을 시작으로, 2026년 1월 첫 오트 쿠튀르 컬렉션을 선보일 예정입니다.
