Yesterday, I had a meal with the offspring of the founder of the Shanghai Tang brand at Lao Jishi. He shared his childhood memories from when his father established the brand in 1994. The concept of “inheritance” is particularly fascinating; some families pass on wealth, others pass on jewels, some inherit an idea or a system, and others inherit a memory. As the Chinese saying goes, “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.” The very oxygen we breathe now is a result of the forests passed down from generation to generation by our ancestors. When designing this series, I thought of the Eastern quality of external modesty and restraint, calm like the different textures of the tranquil universe in black, but internally, it is guarding the green forest that our ancestors and we ourselves have planted and continue to nurture, passing on life and growth. I am both an inheritor and an inheritor, with the oxygen inside me rising infinitely ♾️. Happy New Year～🌿🌿🌿
