🌕AYDC Public Center is designed by @atelier_xi in Guiyang, China. Spreading of a 236m2 project has been completed in 2024. The vision was a dispersed constellation of pavilions, each responding to the surrounding topography and community needs, rather than consulting all facilities together in a closed box. It integrates nature, innovation and cultural life set within a culture-driven hub in an artistic expression. The Karst Mountains cave-inspired project has three main elements, the Xima Library, Ginkgo Chapel, and Dali Stage, which emerge as sculptural forms carved by light and space. Shade through suspended, pointed arches that express a delicate tension between mass and void. Elevated on massive stone leaves, the Ginkgo Chapel opens into a central void that filters light and sound through ginkgo trees and frames the sky. With its mirrored interior and fibre optic lighting embedded in the floor, the Dali Stage, which doesn't have an arch, opens to the square and creates an atmosphere that reminded of heaven.
