🌀The Orb, an experimental pavilion designed by @theverymany and completed in 2023, occupies a site between Google’s East Campus and the city of Mountain View. Developed through computational design protocols, the structure merges architectural and sculptural qualities, offering a spatial experience grounded in performance and expression. Fabricated from ultra-thin 3mm aluminum, the pavilion utilizes principles of parametric design—where curvature, repetition, and variation operate as both aesthetic and structural logic. Its lightweight, self-supporting form reflects a precise engineering approach, allowing for a biomorphic geometry that responds to site conditions and programmatic flexibility. Functioning as a semi-enclosed gathering space, The Orb supports both informal daily use and programmed events. Its porous, layered shell modulates natural light throughout the day, creating a dynamic play of shadow and illumination, while transforming into a glowing landmark at night. As a counterpoint to the transparency and openness of the surrounding Google campus, the pavilion introduces a moment of spatial intimacy. Through its adaptive assembly and performative design language, The Orb exemplifies the potential of parametric architecture to generate responsive environments within technologically driven contexts. 📸 @2spacephoto, @younesbounhar 🚀 Join @thepaacademy’s workshops to learn the most advanced tools in architecture from pioneering architects and designers! #ParametricArchitecture #ComputationalDesign #SculpturalArchitecture #GoogleCampus #TheOrb #ArchitecturalLandmark #DesignTechnology #SpatialExperience

🎍The Center for Inclusive Growth and Competitiveness at TAPMI, designed by @the_purple_ink_studio and completed in October 2024, is situated on a prominent corner of the TAPMI campus in Manipal, Karnataka. Set against the hilly terrain of the region, the project challenges conventional institutional architecture by adopting an open and climate-responsive spatial strategy. Two white cubic volumes frame a recessed central amphitheater, Angala, serving as the core gathering space. Circulation is guided through a network of ramps and staircases that respond to the site’s natural slopes, enabling smooth transitions between levels while enhancing overall accessibility. The layout prioritizes interaction and spatial fluidity over rigid, compartmentalized planning, establishing a built environment that remains closely connected to its surrounding landscape. A bamboo canopy composed of eleven parasol-like structures defines the amphitheater, acting as both a functional and architectural centerpiece. Constructed with a steel substructure and handmade bamboo canes, the canopy filters light and provides protection from the region’s intense monsoon rains, while maintaining permeability and visual lightness. The varying heights of the canopy elements generate a layered overhead plane that draws inspiration from forest canopies, contributing to a biomimetic spatial experience. This integration of parametric design principles with local materials and contextual understanding underscores the project’s commitment to sustainable, site-specific architecture. 📸 Suryan Dang 🚀Join @thepaacademy’s workshops to learn the most advanced tools in architecture from pioneering architects and designers! #TapmiCenterExtension #ThePurpleInkStudio #ParametricArchitecture #ContextualArchitecture #SustainableArchitecture #BambooArchitecture

🏗 Lucas Museum of Narrative Art designed by @madarchitects is opening its doors in 2026 in the cultural hub of Expo Park Los Angeles, still under construction. The design is going to be a new architectural landmark in Los Angeles upon its completion. The museum is elevated above the ground to create a floating, organic shape thanks to the sculpture-like interaction of two interconnected canopies. The museum’s visual character is established by such action, which also creates an open, accessible public space underneath the building. The 11 acre campus invites community engagement at its heart, seamlessly blending architecture with vibrant green spaces to create a welcoming and connected environment. The Lucas Museum will be the first institution dedicated exclusively to narrative art across diverse cultures and media. Its collection features works by renowned artists such as Norman Rockwell, Frida Kahlo, and Gordon Parks, alongside models, props, and concept art from George Lucas’s filmmaking archive. This project is evolving into a landmark destination that will warmly welcome both local residents and visitors, offering a dynamic environment where art, landscape, and community converge. 📸 @Jason Armond, myung_chun from, @latimes 🚀 Join @thepaacademy’s workshops to learn the most advanced tools in architecture from pioneering architects and designers! #MADArchitects #LucasMuseum #ParametricArchitecture #PaAcademy #ContemporaryArchitecture #PublicSpaces #MuseumDesign

✝ St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church by @calatravaofficial marks a thoughtful contribution to the post-9/11 reconstruction of Lower Manhattan. Completed between 2012–2022, the structure sits atop Liberty Park, directly across from the former World Trade Center site. Designed in collaboration with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, the church is distinguished by its translucent façade and reinforced concrete shell, featuring a central dome supported by 40 arched ribs and 40 glowing windows. The geometry references Byzantine religious architecture, particularly the Hagia Sophia, while embracing a contemporary material and structural language. Clad in Pentelic marble, the same used in the Parthenon, the building bridges ancient tradition with modern expression. Through symmetry, repetition, and controlled light, Calatrava crafts a sacred monument that also speaks to civic resilience. From a parametric lens, the project exemplifies the fusion of engineering precision and sculptural form, evident in its smooth curves and articulated ribs. As both a spiritual sanctuary and a symbol of rebirth, it resonates deeply within one of the world’s most symbolically charged urban contexts. 📸 @alan_karchmer michaelyoung.official 🚀 Join @thepaacademy’s workshops to learn the most advanced tools in architecture from pioneering architects and designers! #StNicholasChurch #SantiagoCalatrava #ParametricArchitecture #ArchitecturalDesign #WorldTradeCenter #NYCArchitecture #ConcreteArchitecture #NewYorkCity

🌿Temperaturas Extremas has completed a 50-meter-high water reservoir and multi-species refuge in the Natura 2000-listed forest of Plateau Kirchberg, Luxembourg City. Commissioned by the Luxembourg Water Department, the structure integrates a 1,000-cubic-meter drinking water reservoir into a protected ecosystem. Divided into two cylindrical volumes, the design minimizes site impact while accommodating ecological functions. The concrete volume includes prefabricated nesting modules for swallows and a 50-meter-high nest for peregrine falcons, developed in collaboration with ornithologists and naturalists. The second volume is clad in cork for insulation and encased in untreated larch wood slats, which incorporate bat roosts and seasonal bird nests. The larch skin is designed to support vegetation growth over time, camouflaging the structure within the forest. The ground level features a permeable metal skin for protection, a green roof that extends the forest floor, and rammed earth paving. Additional features include rainwater collection systems, elevated walkways, and an observation deck for ecological monitoring and maintenance. 📸 Miguel Fernández-Galiano ✨ Join @thepaacademy’s workshops to learn the most advanced tools in architecture from pioneering architects and designers! #ParametricArchitecture #TemperaturasExtremas #LuxembourgCity #EcologicalInfrastructure #Natura2000 #BirdHabitat #SustainableArchitecture #ConcreteDesign #WoodArchitecture

⚪Designed by @skidmoreowingsmerrill, the Kuwait University Administration Facilities anchor the northern edge of the new campus, serving as the institutional core for one of the region’s largest academic hubs. Completed in 2022, the complex includes six interconnected buildings, a library, cultural center, visitor center, conference hall, administration offices, and a convocation hall. Each structure addresses specific programmatic needs while collectively forming a cohesive architectural identity rooted in Kuwait’s vernacular and tailored to the desert climate. A contemporary expression of tradition, the buildings’ façades reinterpret the mashrabiya, an iconic element of Middle Eastern design, through parametrically patterned screens that filter light, encourage airflow, and reduce solar gain. Collaborating with Kuwaiti artist Farah Behbehani, the design team integrated calligraphic motifs inspired by Arabic and Kufic scripts into the screens, merging cultural symbolism with environmental performance. As the sun moves across the sky, the patterned screens create a dynamic interplay of light and shadow across interior and exterior surfaces, emphasizing both climatic performance and cultural continuity. 📸 © Dave Burk| SOM architects 👩‍🎓Join @thepaacademy’s workshops to learn the most advanced tools in architecture from pioneering architects and designers! #SOM #KuwaitUniversity #ParametricDesign #Calligraphy #ClimateResponsiveDesign #CulturalArchitecture #FacadeDesign #MiddleEast #Kuwait
