Join me this month in Svalbard! Due to a cancellation, there are a couple of places available on my upcoming Svalbard voyage with @naturalworldsafaris! From May 21-29, our small group of up to 12 guests will be heading into the sea ice on board @rvkinfish in search of Svalbard’s most pristine spring landscapes. If you’re looking to dive deeper into the Arctic, this expedition is the perfect opportunity to see some of the most remote corners of the archipelago. Head to the link in my bio to see all the info on how to join us!

Analogous and complementary color palettes with browns and blues to keep developing your editing style! With @jordlg / The color of the earth in all its shades is greatly appreciated. As the color of numerous natural materials, such as wood and leather, brown is one of the most popular choices for decorating homes. However, is brown an actual color? Strictly speaking, no - it is the result of mixing all colors. The combination of red and green produces brown, as does violet and yellow, blue and orange, or red, yellow, and blue. Additionally, mixing any color with black also creates brown. Brown is more of a color mixer than a color itself. However, in a psychological sense, brown is unquestionably a color, as it has symbolism distinct from other colors. Brown is undoubtedly a recommendable tone that brings density and stability to any palette and effectively supports other colors - like in images one and two in this series, where each palette balances warm and cool tones, creating harmony and depth in the images using nature-inspired colors: 1) In image one, the deep black-brown (161514) and dark earthy brown (28221d) combine well with the soft beige (d2aa8f) and muted gray-blues (797c82 and 43505a), creating an analogous palette. Muted tones and deep darks combined create a grounded and calming atmosphere. The warm beige adds a hint of warmth and nostalgia, balancing the cooler tones and grounding the image in natural beauty. 2) In image three, the complementary colors are derived from the contrast between the cool and warm tones. The blue tones (a3b0be and 7a8b9e) find their complementary color in the brown tones (30241c and 12100f), as blue and orange (or orange-brown in this case) are complementary on the color wheel. The gray (4c5665) acts as a neutral to support the interplay between these colors. Overall, the pastel and muted blues convey calmness, while the dark tones anchor the image in depth and mystery. The atmosphere feels expansive and reflective, with an undertone of solitude and adventure. @nomadict: Which of these fantastic color combinations by @jordlg do you prefer? 🎨
