They once ruled across continents… now they cling to the last wild corners of Africa. Just 100 years ago, over 200,000 lions roamed the wild. Today? Fewer than 20,000 remain—and they’re disappearing fast. They’ve vanished from over 90% of their historic range, driven out by habitat loss, conflict with humans, and illegal hunting. Africa’s apex predator—The Lion—could go extinct in our lifetime. But in Masai Mara, the legacy lives on. Here, in one of the last strongholds of the species, lions still rule the golden savannas. They still raise cubs, defend territory, and stalk the herds across endless grasslands. At @kapotocamp, we’re surrounded by multiple thriving prides, giving you front-row access to one of nature’s most breathtaking dramas. Each day brings roars in the distance, paws in the dust, and a glimpse into a world that’s vanishing elsewhere. This isn’t just a safari—it’s a chance to witness what’s left of a kingdom. And to help protect it. Your visit supports local communities and conservation efforts that keep lions wild and their landscapes intact. #MasaiMara #LionConservation #BigCats #AfricanLions #SaveTheLions #MasaiMaraSafari #WildlifeEncounters #KapotoCamp #EcoSafari #WildlifePhotography #SafariExperience #ProtectThePride #NatureConservation #BornFreeFoundation #AfricanSafariAdventure #RoarForLions #NatureLovers #TravelForGood #MasaiMaraMagic #EndangeredSpecies #WildlifePlanet #SafariDreams #LionWatch #ConservationTravel #ResponsibleTourism
Kenya, you are wild magic. 🐘🇰🇪🚁 A long-overdue post for a journey I’ll never forget. Touched down on a dormant volcano in Lake Turkana, where a tribe lives in harmony with the saltwater and fish-rich waters. Watched millions of flamingos turn the skies pink over Lakes Nakuru and Bogoria. Stayed at Arijiju, where elephants wandered past as we swam, and the wild felt right at our doorstep. Explored the savannah on horseback and by vehicle, crossing paths with incredible wildlife. Met the Maasai Mara—resilient, proud, and deeply rooted in their traditions. Stood before ancient rock art left behind by the San people, a window into the past. We ended it all with a fire on a mountaintop at sunset—Kenya’s final gift. 💛 A land of beauty, soul, and untamed magic. From its landscapes to its people and wildlife, Kenya’s diversity is nothing short of breathtaking. Special thanks to those that made this dream trip a possible. #kenya #africa #travel #travelgram
