Today is International Bear Day, we are so lucky to live in a world with bears. With 8 different bear species and many more sub-species, each one is unique and essential to the ecosystems they inhabit. They are a living testament to the beauty and strength of the wild. As a bear guide, I’ve had the privilege of sharing countless incredible moments with bears in the wild—experiences that have deeply changed me. They’ve reshaped how I view conservation and how I understand my purpose. Through these encounters, I’ve witnessed their strength, intelligence, and deep sense of care, qualities that challenge the misinformation and miseducation that so often surrounds them. I will always use my voice to stand up for bears, fighting for their conservation and the protection of their habitats. From vanishing forests to human conflict, bears face threats that we can’t ignore. But I believe we can make a difference. Every effort counts, every voice matters. Let’s raise awareness, advocate for real change, and fight to ensure that future generations will experience the wonder of seeing a bear in the wild. This isn’t just about protecting a species—it’s about preserving the wild spaces we all need. Today, and every day, I stand with the bears. 🐻🐻‍❄️ #alaska #katmai #bearcub #ursus #grizzlybear #brownbear #katmainationalpark #natgeo #natgeowild #nationalgeographic #nationalpark #nationalparks #thegreatoutdoors #wildlife #wildlifephotography #wildlifephotographer #conservation #wildlifeonearth #wildlifeconservation #capturethewild #naturelovers #nature #capturethewild #natureloversgallery #naturelover #wildlifelover #naturelovers

🚨 ADFG IS TRYING TO MURDER BEARS AGAIN 🚨 Just DAYS after the courts struck down this brutal predator control policy, the Alaska Department of Fish and Game (AFDG) is sneaking around the ruling—dropping a last-minute request to reinstate it with almost no public notice this weekend. This is a blatant attempt to silence opposition and push their slaughter plan through before we can fight back. If this goes through, 100 bears—including cubs—will be killed this May. 💔 🔴 No independent scientific evidence supports this so-called “predator control.” 🔴 It’s a massive waste of taxpayer money. 🔴 It’s morally and ethically WRONG. To make things worse, they’ve made it intentionally difficult to comment—you can’t just fill out a form, you have to upload a document. They want you to give up. Don’t let them win. 📝 HOW TO FIGHT BACK: Testify in person in Anchorage this weekend (must sign up by 10 AM tomorrow). Submit a written comment online (yes, it’s annoying, but it’s crucial). Call out their shady tactics: this policy was just struck down in court and now they’re trying to sneak it back. 💥 COMMENT “STOPIT” below, and I’ll DM you the link to oppose this. They think they can get away with this. Prove them wrong. SHARE THIS NOW. . . . #alaska #katmai #bearcub #ursus #grizzkybear #brownbear #katmainationalpark #natgeo #natgeowild #nationalgeographic #nationalpark #nationalparks #thegreatoutdoors #wildlife #wildlifephotography #wildlifephotographer #conservation #wildlifeonearth #wildlifeconservation #capturethewild #naturelovers #nature #bethechange #makeadifference #bethechangeyouwanttosee #animalovers

Golden light, wild beauty, and a morning we’ll never forget. Watching Peteca and her nearly grown kittens move through the landscape at sunrise was pure magic. Our incredible experiences with these elusive big cats are only possible because they are protected here, thriving in one of the few places where they can roam freely without fear. Pumas roam from Canada to the southern tip of South America. Though still widespread, their populations are fragmented, with an estimated 50,000 pumas left in the wild. In many areas, they face relentless persecution, habitat loss, and conflict with humans. Just beyond this protected region, pumas are still shot on sight—viewed as pests by ranchers who fear for their sheep. Yet, coexistence is possible, and conservation is key. These incredible cats are not the enemy; they are a vital part of the ecosystem, maintaining the delicate balance of the wild. The future of pumas depends on the choices we make now. By supporting conservation and responsible ecotourism, we can ensure these big cats continue to thrive. Let’s be the generation that protects, not destroys. Our 2026 puma dates are coming soon. Despite last week’s court ruling, Alaska’s bears and wolves are still at risk. 🐺 Wolves can still be legally slaughtered from helicopters (they were not part of the Mulchatna ruling) 🐻 Bears and wolves near Denali (Proposal 75) can still be legally slaughtered from helicopters, starting this May Last week, a judge suspended the Alaska Department of Fish & Game’s (ADF&G) plan to kill wolves and bears this spring under the guise of “predator control” to help the declining Mulchatna caribou herd. But instead of reevaluating their approach, ADF&G is doubling down and trying to find a work around. They argue that killing predators is necessary to protect the caribou herd for subsistence hunters, despite years of scientific evidence showing habitat loss, disease, and climate change—not predators—are the real threats to caribou populations. ADF&G is pushing politics over science, and Alaska’s wildlife is paying the price. Predator control at this scale isn’t conservation—it’s destruction. It wastes taxpayer money and it has no scientific justification. 📢 We need to keep the pressure on. Speak up, share, and take action before it’s too late. The future of Alaska’s bears and wolves depends on it. 🐻 Justice for Mulchatna bears ‼️ Today, Judge Guidi of the Superior Court of Alaska ruled in favor of the Alaska Wildlife Alliance (@alaskawildlifealliance), finding that the Mulchatna Bear Control program—through which the state aerially gunned nearly 200 brown bears—was unlawfully adopted. This is a HUGE victory, and I am so grateful to the @alaskawildlifealliance for bringing this legal case forward. It was an uphill battle, but the Court found that the Proposal which enacted the Mulchatna bear control program was “unlawfully adopted and, therefore, void and without legal effect.” The program was scheduled to slaughter another 100 bears this May. Now these bears can live on. The fight was won, but the battle continues. Please consider donating to help AWA continue their legal work to protect Alaska’s bears. I donated—every bit counts! 🐻💙 Comment “DONATE” and I’ll send you a direct link to the AWA press release and their donation page! I’m still waiting to see what this means for Proposition 75, which was approved in January and seeks to expand the Mulchatna aerial slaughter program to another area. Stay tuned.
