“I do not capture to observe; I capture to preserve,” writes Magnum nominee @sakirkhader. “To ensure that we remain in the archive, that we are never erased.” Curated by Aya Musa, Khader’s first museum-based solo exhibition opened at @foam_amsterdam last month. Titled Yawm al-Firak (Day of Separation), after an ancient Arabic poem of separation and grief, the exhibition gives a voice to seven young Palestinian men who were killed in the West Bank, and to their mothers who bid them an eternal farewell. Through a series of images, videos and lithophane prints, Khader explores the fragile boundary between life and death of a people who are “refusing to be uprooted.” 🔗 Read the full article at the link in the @magnumphotos bio.
