Feed The Birds 📽 by @tmacstar Naturally, when one seeks to attract anything from the wild into their respite from the outside world, sometimes they are also inadvertently leading what may be looking to capitalize on the very same generosity. Roadrunners can and will pull this off in the wild, but the feeder takes all the guesswork out of their plans for lunch. These opportunistic, omnivorous predators have many ways of securing something to eat. Insects, lizards, snakes, rodents and bird eggs make up the bulk of their diet, and they fill in all the gaps with seeds and fruits when times are tough. As you can see from the video, they are experts at moving their body into position to grab stuff above them, but they are even better at chasing things down on the ground. Their quickness helps with that. They can run flat out at speeds of roughly 20mph (32kmh). The only catch is, they aren't really good at flapping those wings/flying. In fact, they are pretty mediocre at it. Sure, they can jump up and make short work of a distracted hummingbird, but they always return to the earth.
