I wonder what modern conveniences we would trade if we knew nature was going to reward us? Nobody likes taking a shit in the dirt. Or a bad night’s sleep… Or getting into a wet wetsuit. There wasn’t any promise of lifelong memories or northern lights on trips like this to Alaska but the discomfort was for damn sure worth the risk.

23 years ago we met. 18 years ago you made me your Husband. 13 years ago you made me a Dad Happy Mother’s Day to a girl I met in high school and somehow convinced to start a life with me. I never fully realized or thought it would take us where it has and I’m Grateful for every beautiful, painful, joyous , stressful moment. Field Journal // E16 People often ask me, “What’s your favorite photo you’ve ever taken?” It’s a tough one to answer. Every photo holds something, maybe it’s about who I was with, what I was feeling, or where I stood when I pressed the shutter. They all carry meaning in their own quiet way. But this frame? It’s definitely up there. It’s not every day you get to take a photo of a photographer, especially one who’s inspired your own path. Back in 2021, I had the chance to document @chrisburkard in one of his favorite places. The light was soft, the wind quiet, and time slowed down just enough. There’s something special about seeing someone in their element and being trusted to freeze that feeling in time. Grateful to be a small part of this moment with Chris. “Easily the best trip of my life.” Two years of planning and countless scouting missions led @chrisburkard on his most daunting bike expedition to date: 400km and 4500m in six days across Vatnajökull, the largest glacier in Europe. But this first could be the last. Traversing treacherous crevasses, riding through subzero temperatures, and descending on perfect crust. All is threatened by climate change, as Vatnajökull could lose half its ice mass by 2100. Stay tuned for more about Chris’ journey across this frozen frontier.

An Ode to California: some of my favorite landscapes that shaped my eye & work as photographer. Most people picture palm trees & Hollywood when thinking of California… but I genuinely would struggle to think of many places more diverse within such close proximity. A glance behind the scenes into a team of highly creative professionals sewing the seams of a project that felt more like an expression of art rather than a production. A few days shooting Mountains of the Moon with @chrisbenchetler was one of my favorites projects in a long time… technically challenging to capture fast moving athletes in darkness while undergoing wet, rainy conditions… good for hiking but hard for cameras. A few days of 2025 I won’t easily forget. Thanks @snackfarmer for the amazing assist on this one.
