Techniques to achieve striking symmetry and proportion in your images! With @krimamr / Symmetry and proportion are essential elements in art, as they can help create a sense of balance and order, improving the overall impact of an image, design, or photograph: 1) Symmetry refers to the balanced distribution of elements within a scene, horizontal and vertical, where elements are mirror images of each other on either axis. In travel images, symmetry can appear in reflections, such as in a calm lake or a mirrored cabin. To create symmetry using a reflection, consider the placement of your main subject in the frame. For instance, when you compose a boat, place it in the center of your photo - see pics 6 and 8. Through patterns, you can also achieve a sense of symmetry. One of the best ways to implement symmetry in your images is by using architecture. Bridges and buildings, in particular, feature interesting elements and repetitive patterns that you can use to create a sense of symmetry - see pics 3 and 7. 2) Proportion refers to the relationship between the different elements within a scene and their relative sizes. In travel photography, this can include the proportion of the sky to the land, the size of objects within the frame, and the balance of negative space. To create proportion in your images, consider the placement of the horizon line. Placing the horizon in the upper third or lower third of the frame can add a sense of balance. Similarly, you can use the size of the elements in your frame to create proportion. For example, if you want to emphasize a specific subject, try to position it so it takes up a significant portion of the frame - see pic. 10. You can also use leading lines to create a sense of proportion and balance in your images. Leading lines are figures within the scene that guide the viewer’s eye toward the main subject, like a dune or a river, for instance, and picture eleven of this series is an example of how to implement this technique. @nomadict: Which one of these images beautifully captured by @krimamr gives you a sense of balance and order? 📸

Five key strategies to be highly productive at creating atmospheric and vibrant images on the go! Find @long.explorer’s master tips below! “As a travel photographer, I spend weeks outdoors chasing the perfect light. In places as serene and unpredictable as this, I stick to a few key principles to guide every shoot and be as productive as possible: 1) Low sunlight always renders a scene clear, vibrant, and epic. I always hope for a clear horizon during sunrise and sunset. Starting at the blue hour, I have around 1.5 hours for my shoots. So, I create a mood board to get the best possible results. 2) Fog and low-hanging clouds infuse an air of mystery and dreaminess. Consequently, I meticulously plan my trips based on the locations and the prevailing weather conditions, aiming to achieve the most dramatic results that complement each setting. 3) When I shoot on location, especially with a friend, my workflow is pretty pragmatic: We try every possible perspective on that spot, getting ultra-wide shots, compressed tele shots, detailed shots of the surroundings, and panoramic shots. Shooting like this lets you get into a very intense flow and create as much content as possible. Later, you can choose your favorite shots when you have more time. 4) Nothing is worse than returning from a great shoot and thinking about the photos and perspectives you missed. I spend only a few minutes on every perspective. I aim to get at least 20 different angles and perspectives in all lighting conditions (blue hour, alpenglow, and golden hour). 5) I always bring the ColorPro VP16-OLED portable monitor wherever I go. It is compact, foldable, and connects easily via USB-C—ideal for working remotely without sacrificing color accuracy. With its OLED panel, 10-bit color depth, and 100% coverage of sRGB and Rec.709, the VP16-OLED gives me a reliable and true-to-life view of my images, the key to making confident editing decisions no matter where I am.” @colorpro: Tap the link in our bio to watch @long.explorer’s editing tutorial and discover how he brings his atmospheric shots to life! #ColorProWithMe #MadeWithColorPro
