The city’s turbulent 20th-century history is visible in the bullet holes on facades, the graffitied remains of the Berlin Wall and the monotonous residential blocks erected during the post-World War II reconstruction. But Berlin’s younger generations are forward-looking, and its restaurants, bars and clubs are focused on the newest trends. The sprawling city is decentralized, with dozens of kieze, or neighborhoods, each with its own character and heart: From Prenzlauer Berg, with pretty prewar apartment blocks and tchotchke-filled antique shops, to Kreuzberg, with leather-clad denizens and brightly lit spätis, convenience stores that stay open late and sometimes offer outdoor seating. Airport lounges have become a locus of romance for millennials, who post TikTok videos of themselves getting dressed up to go to the lounge early before a flight, hoping to find their soul mate or, at the very least, a fresh romance. Delta Air Lines’s public relations team has a plan of action for managing proposals, which includes decorating the lounge, helping facilitate the proposal, and creating a special food and drink cart for the couple — often involving photogenic espresso martinis — Claude Roussel, who manages lounge experiences, said. Delta pulled out all the stops last year when Ryan Scheb, 35, proposed to Philip Tuzynski, 37, at LaGuardia’s Delta Sky Club. The two are self-proclaimed “aviation geeks” from New York whose idea of romance is sitting in the airline lounge with a cocktail, watching the planes take off. Baim, seorang pendaki berusia 18 tahun asal Jember, yang dilaporkan hilang setelah terjatuh ke jurang di Gunung Saeng, desa Sumberwaru, Kecamatan Binakal, Kabupaten Bondowoso, Jawa Timur, akhirnya ditemukan. Sayangnya, ia ditemukan dalam keadaan tidak bernyawa di dasar jurang pada hari Jumat (2 Mei 2025). Kejadian ini bermula ketika Baim berangkat mendaki bersama empat rekannya sekitar pukul 07:28 WIB. Saat mereka sedang dalam perjalanan turun dari puncak gunung yang memiliki ketinggian 1.559 mdpl, Baim mengalami kecelakaan sekitar setengah jam kemudian, tepatnya pada pukul 13:30 WIB. Ia terjatuh di area yang sulit karena kondisi tanah pasir yang licin. Menurut sepupu Baim, Hakiki, setiap Sabtu malam, Baim selalu aktif ikut kegiatan selawatan di desanya. “Anaknya ramah, nggak neko-neko, aktif ikut selawatan tiap Sabtu malam,” ujar Hakiki kepada TribunJatimTimur, di posko pencarian, Jumat (2/5/2025).
