Hubble Space Telescope

Lifting the veil ✨ Hubble's view of the Veil Nebula shows the remnants of a star's explosive death in a supernova. This star was about 20 times as massive as our Sun, and exploded 10,000 years ago. Hubble has observed the Veil Nebula multiple times, allowing scientists to track how this supernova remnant evolves over decades. Image credit: ESA/Hubble & NASA, R. 10K light years doesn't seem that far away from us. What is the blast radius for such an event?

Vatnajökull Field Notes: Day 0 January 18th, I broke my ankle skiing in Japan. It wasn’t really the way I imagined starting the year off but an MRI & CT scan with @doctor.masi confirmed the break. I immediately launched into doing everything I POSSIBLY could to recover before the expedition… all while feeling an immense amount of anxiety about my inability to train and considering the responsibility of being a good partner to the crew joining the crossing. I started looking for exit options along the route knowing full well that the best call might eventually be removing myself from the equation. 21 days before the expedition - I got another scan showing the bone was healing, but still quite broken & not in good condition for a 230 mile ride across snow & crevassed ice. It’s hard to fully express the stress I felt in those 3 weeks leading up.. these trips are more than just fun or personal objectives... They’re an essential part of my livelihood & I pour my heart & soul into preparing for every detail. Even training in weird stretches of sand dunes while on the road to try & emulate glacier travel. I’m so grateful to have made it happen despite the circumstances and to share the crossing with a truly incredible group of riders. I’ll be recounting the trip over the next week here with a special series of posts, stay tuned ! @kurt.refsnider @justin.and.bikes @tyson.flaharty @miron_golfman Special Thanks to: @roka @rapha @ari.bikes @envecomposites @tailfincycling 🎥: @vidirb @joelbarger_

Enjoy this majestic mountain goat as he looks out over his wild domain 😍🐕! Captured high up in the mountains near Valdez Alaska during an outing with my pilot friend @helipilotleigh to a location accessible only by helicopter or extreme bush whacking expedition.

Serving up Sydney’s top 5 sweet treats, according to our mate @parthbajaj 🍰 There’s an abundance of boundary-pushing restaurants and stellar spots for a cheeky dessert (or two!) in Warrane (@sydney). Follow Parth’s lead and grab yourself an iconic lamington, decadent pastry or delicious gelato at these must-visit spots: 🥥: @tokyolamington 🍦: @gelatomessina 🥐: @a.p.bread 🍨: @iloveyochi 🥧: @lode_pies 🎥 : @parthbajaj 📍: Warrane (@sydney), @visitnsw #SeeAustralia #ComeAndSayGday #FeelNSW #FeelNewSydney ID: Text over video reads “5 divine desserts to try in Sydney” followed by a series of videos that show a person exploring a city’s top dessert venues, sampling lamingtons, gelato, pastries and frozen yoghurt along the way.

The only place you can say g’day to sleeping beauties like these is northeastern Queensland 🧡 This rare Mareeba Rock Wallaby was spotted catching some z’s in @queensland’s unique @athertontablelands - a destination famous for waterfalls, lava tubes and an incredibly tasty food trail of local producers 🍇 Stay in an eco-friendly treehouse at @mtquincan and head out on a nocturnal exploration tour with Eyes on Wildlife to try your luck at spotting one of these cute Aussie marsupials. 🎥 : @jasminewildlife 📍: @athertontablelands, @queensland #SeeAustralia #ComeAndSayGday #ThisIsQueensland #AthertonTablelands ID: A video shows a rock wallaby falling asleep, on a rock, with it’s head tucked towards it’s chest.

The spiral galaxy NGC 2082 stuns from 60 million light-years away. Captured here by Hubble's Advanced Camera for Surveys, NGC 2082 can be seen in exquisite detail – filaments of dark dust splay across the galaxy's arms and central hub of stars. Plus, Hubble's vision resolves individual stars in the galaxy and even tiny, distant galaxies in the background. Image description: A spiral galaxy fills the center of the image, with a yellow core and hazy arms full of dark brown dust and bright blue stars. The black background of space is dotted with several stars and more distant galaxies. @agpfoto witnessing the majesty of lions in the heart of the Serengeti!🦁🌳 💡Serengeti National Park is home to one of the largest populations of lions in Africa, with an estimated 3,000 lions roaming its plains. Lions are the apex predators in the Serengeti, playing a crucial role in maintaining the balance of the ecosystem by regulating prey population. Tag someone who’d love to see lions roam free in the Serengeti!❤️ 📍Serengeti National Park, Tanzania🇹🇿

🎥 + 💭: @matthewunderwater The manta rays of Komodo. Nothing quite compares. Watching these gentle giants glide through beams of light is one of the most peaceful experiences a person can have. With wingspans reaching over five meters, they move with quiet ease, effortlessly navigating strong currents. Mantas have no stingers or teeth—and no interest in confrontation. Just grace and serenity. Filmed at Mawan dive site in Komodo National Park, Indonesia. #MarineMonday #Komodo #MantaRays
