One of my favorite sounds 🔊🧊. Brought an ice screw along to check the lake ice depth and this side view looked amazing 😍

Hubble Space Telescope

Hot off the press! For #LibraryDay, we have a new e-book ready to download. "Hubble’s Beautiful Universe" takes readers on a journey through Hubble’s mission, from 1990 to today, with many of the breathtaking images of the cosmos it’s collected along the way. This book unfolds Hubble’s long-ranging story decade by decade, highlighting each era’s contributions to astronomy. It showcases Hubble’s important “firsts” that changed the way we understand our universe, and also explains the groundbreaking scientific concepts that Hubble studies, like mysterious dark matter and our universe’s accelerating expansion. What better way to celebrate Hubble's 35th anniversary month? Get your free copy at the link in our bio! Image description: A reddish star cluster shines at upper left, with cascading clouds of orange and brown beneath it. Dark space with blue stars fills the right side of the image. Along the bottom of the image, white text reads "Hubble's Beautiful Universe" with "Through the eyes of NASA's iconic space telescope" below it. #NASA #Hubble #Hubble35 #library #LibraryDay #books #science #space #STEM

Hubble Space Telescope

Shine bright like NGC 6397! ✨ This star cluster glitters with the light from hundreds of thousands of stars. At 7,800 light-years away, this is one of the closest globular clusters to Earth. Globular clusters are roughly spherical collections of stars bound together by their mutual gravity. The cluster's blue stars are near the end of their lives. These stars have used up their hydrogen fuel that makes them shine. Now, they're converting helium to energy in their cores, which fuses at a higher temperature – resulting in a blue color, as seen in this Hubble view from the mission's 18th year. We're sharing one outstanding image from each year of Hubble’s mission to celebrate its upcoming 35th birthday – counting down to a new series of anniversary images! Stay tuned for more, and get caught up at the link in our bio! Image description: Several white and blue stars with diffraction spikes shine against black space. Image credit: NASA, ESA, and H. @alijalal960 This is how the antimony kohl is prepared. Prepared in the traditional Iraqi way 🇮🇶. It is made from antimony stone, white chicken fat, Arabic mastic plant, and apricot seeds. All the ingredients are collected and burned over a fire, then ground and filtered through a piece of cloth.
