National Geographic
Photos by @jodymacdonaldphoto | As a professional photographer, I’ve spent most of my life drawn to remote landscapes, not just for their beauty, but for what they reveal. The wilderness has always been more than a backdrop. It’s where I go to push edges, to recover focus, to strip everything back to what matters. On this trip in Central Oregon, that meant long paddles through still water, climbing up basalt walls at Smith Rock, and navigating fast, unpredictable terrain on the mountain bike. Each discipline demanded something different, but all pointed back to the same place. Out here, the wild is a proving ground, a sanctuary, and a playground. It tests your skills, your patience, your mindset. But it also restores perspective. And that balance, that’s what keeps bringing me back. | The wild shows up in different ways—for some, it’s a trail; for others, a river, a ridgeline, a feeling. The Toyota 4Runner is made to meet it, wherever it finds you. #ToyotaPartner #4Runner @ToyotaUSA
