As clear and crisp as it gets! Perfect ice for practicing V threads or A threads. Definitely will melt as soon as the sun warms things up this spring so putting this hole in this ice berg has little to no impact. . You can hear my excitement as it takes a certain kinda blue ice to get me going 🧊💙

Nature Is Metal

Sea Lampreys are ancient fish that have survived for millions of years, using their round, toothy, sucker-like mouths to latch onto fish and feed on their blood and fluids. They’re born and spawn in freshwater rivers and streams, and while they can live in the lakes connected to these rivers, they mostly use them as a brief stopover in their native North Atlantic range before heading to the ocean to feed. As parasites, sea lampreys play a role in aquatic ecosystems by feeding on host fish, which helps cycle nutrients and keeps fish populations from growing too large in their natural habitats, while also providing food for predators like birds and larger fish in the food chain - a properly lampreyed fish is considerably weaker and easier for the hungry to capture. So even these eerie wriggling nightmare creatures reveal the importance of parasites in maintaining balance in the ecosystem. 📽 by @roysboyscharters - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Nature Is Metal is powered by you! Swipe to meet a galaxy in your neighborhood ➡️ This 2015 image shows a portion of the Andromeda Galaxy, our Milky Way's nearest major galactic neighbor. Even though the galaxy is about 2.5 million light-years away, Hubble’s vision is powerful enough to resolve individual stars in a 61,000-light-year-long stretch of the galaxy's pancake-shaped disk. That's like photographing a beach and resolving individual grains of sand! We're sharing one outstanding image from each year of Hubble’s mission to celebrate its upcoming 35th birthday – counting down to a new series of anniversary images! Stay tuned for more, and get caught up at the link in our bio! Image descripton: Extending over three images, a portion of the Andromeda Galaxy shines. At left, a bright, hazy, and yellow core spirals out into arms containing dark brown dust and bright blue stars. Image credit: NASA, ESA, J. Dalcanton, B.F. Williams and L.C.
