In The Last of Us, unfortunate victims who are controlled by the Cordyceps fungus are connected by underground fungal tendrils, also known as a mycelial network. Mycelial networks are real but rather than controlling infected hosts, these fungal superhighways transport nutrients back and forth and offer benefits to the plants they are connected to. I don’t get this post. What last of us? What connection to cordyceps? Why cordyceps and not other fungi. Yes apparently mycelium works in networks, which I don’t understand how we have figured that out, and how we depict in imagery.
