I remember my dad who worked near the state capitol picked me up from school that day. Now, I work next to the memorial and try to never let it fall into the background, from the survivor tree to the fence with mementos to the tiny lawn that was the daycare playground. A few days ago, a visitor told me how he found his classmate on the wall of survivors; over the years you start to hear stories of everyone who was affected. Let us remember those killed, injured, and survived this tragedy. The bombing was not isolated but part of a long line of domestic terrorism that can exist anywhere in the world. Humans have the capability of great harm when they first dehumanize themselves and then others. We all have a responsibility to look for and speak out against extremism and radicalization in our communities before it is too late.

I was in 3rd grade at Windsor Hills Elementary School about 5 miles from the Murrah building. The shockwave hit during our “Wildcat Wednesday” weekly pep rally and we thought it was an earthquake. 5 miles away and it shook our gymnasium. Moments later teachers came running in crying and we knew something was terribly wrong. What a horrible day for Oklahomans and humanity.

Sturgeons have survived for 162 million years, enduring countless challenges—until humans pushed them to the brink of extinction. Once thriving in both fresh and saltwater habitats, these ancient fish are crucial to the health of our ecosystems, yet their populations have plummeted by 94% since 1970. Today, all 26 species of sturgeon are listed as vulnerable, endangered, critically endangered, or extinct in the wild. In Kazakhstan, the Syr Darya sturgeon may already be extinct—no one has seen one since the 1960s, after a series of Soviet dams was built throughout the Syr Darya River system. But Bernie Kuhajda (slide 3, at right), an aquatic conservation biologist, continues his search, holding on to the hope of a recovery. Breeding programs like the one at the Oneida Fish Cultural Station in New York (slide 1) are helping to rejuvenate sturgeon populations. On April 16th, a team of researchers claimed to have found signs of life in the atmosphere of a distant planet called K2-18b. Using data from the James Webb Space Telescope, they detected a gas called dimethyl sulfide (DMS) in the exoplanet’s atmosphere, which orbits in its alien star’s habitable zone. On Earth, DMS is mostly made by microscopic plankton. On other planets, it could be what’s called a biosignature—a sign of life. But not everyone agrees that it signals the existence of alien life, so we asked ten experts for their take on this discovery. Find out more at the link in bio. It has been awhile since I’ve visited the epic Faroe Islands and there is still sooo much I haven’t seen! Here’s a collection of photos from the archipelago with a small person in the big epic vistas where light plays a significant part in the photo! I share all my knowledge about how to use light in landscape photography in my newly released and third ebook ‘Landscape Light’. It is 251 pages and covers the types of light, the light you can encounter all throughout the day, colour and the impact of post-processing are all themes I cover throughout the ebook. If you struggle with light in landscape photography, this ebook is for you! There is a link in my bio, happy learning 🤓
