Hyères is a beautiful French medieval town perched above the sea and almost midway between Marseille to the west and St.-Tropez to the east. For the writer Roslyn Sulcas, one visit turned into a second — and perhaps more. See where she visited, and read more about Hyères, at the link in our bio. Photos by @violettefranchi

It’s articles like this that then draws crowds changing hidden gems like these. I think people should discover places rather than following articles turning a unique place into a trendy tourist spot. Just my humble opinion.

Deep in the dense jungles of Belize, archaeologists excavating the ancient Maya city of Caracol have unearthed what they believe to be the 1,700-year-old tomb of a ruler. If confirmed, the discovery would mark the site’s earliest known royal burial, and possibly the resting place of its founding king, Te K’ab Chaak. The tomb contains the skeletal remains of a man and a treasure trove of Maya artifacts, including a rare jade mosaic death mask, ceramics, jewelry, and much more. Find out what we know about the ruler within—and the potential connections the tomb may reveal between the Maya and the Teotihuacanos—at the link in bio. Researchers recently found the tomb under the canopy in an acropolis to the immediate right.

Chronic inflammation in the gut can wreak havoc on the entire body—even the brain, where mental health conditions can be triggered. But we can influence inflammation by what we eat—and don't eat. Research has shown that including specific foods in our daily eating habits can help control inflammation while reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease and other illnesses. National Geographic Explorer @justingilligan was surprised to spot Hippocampus kelloggi, one of the world’s largest seahorse species, in this Australian lagoon, as it typically prefers the warmer waters farther north. “Off the shore of Lord Howe Island, I found this perfectly camouflaged great seahorse, who captivated me with its intriguing bloodred eyes and knowing expression," says Gilligan.
